IHEPI2009 AWARD

The ambitions of the Visegrad Group countries – the Czech Republic, Hungary,
Poland and Slovakia to
contribute to the innovative and technological changes play an increasing role in
recent European projects.
A flagship project among them is the decision of the European Union to set
up the headquarters of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology
(EIT) - inspired by and modelled on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology -
in Budapest, Hungary. Other significant examples
include the endeavour of innovative and dynamic research, educational and
business centres – in Wroclaw, Poland and in Bratislava, Slovakia
– to establish Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) operating under the
umbrella of EIT.
